FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ARE YOU A PROFESSIONALLY LICENSED STYLIST?

Yes! I have my current New York State Cosmetology License. Jennifer Victoria Beauty is also a registered LLC and I am fully insured for all on location services.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SPECIALIZING IN BRIDAL HAIR?

I first started doing wedding hair in 2016 and was instantly in love!

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY WEDDING DATE WITH YOU?

As soon as possible! I have limited 2024 dates left,.

2025 is filling up. In my experience with any vendor- book ASAP so you’re not scrambling to find someone available.

WHAT IF SOMEONE HAS SHORT HAIR? IS THE PRICE LOWER? CAN MY MOM GET A SHORT HAIR BLOWOUT?

Pricing is the same regardless of desired hairstyle, hair length, or hair thickness. DRY FORMAL STYLING is only offered. Blow outs are not offered. Often a blow out cannot achieve what formal dry styling can (teasing, smoothing, shaping, not to mention longevity for the wedding day)

This is non-negotiable.

DO YOU HAVE A SERVICE MINIMUM?

I offer Bride Only/ Elopement Packages

ALL OTHER WEDDING BOOKINGS:

BRIDE + 3 minimum to book OR $750 equivalent (preview/travel not included)

DO YOU SERVICE LARGE WEDDING PARTIES/ BRING EXTRA ARTISTS?

Yes! For groups of 9 or more ladies (including the Bride), a second artist needs to be booked on your initial contract. There is a $200 second artist fee plus travel. Due to high demand/availability, a second artist cannot be requested at a later date. For expedited getting ready timeframes, a second artist may be booked for an additional charge, inquire for details.

WHAT IS YOUR TIMING FOR HAIR SERVICES THE DAY OF THE WEDDING?

Bridesmaids/Mom's are scheduled for 45 minutes, and the Bride is scheduled anywhere from 1- 1.5 hours (depending on desired style/ extensions).

HOW EARLY DO WE NEED START HAIR SERVICES ON THE WEDDING MORNING?

Keep in mind this depends on how many ladies are scheduled for hair, what time your ceremony is, when your first look is, and where you are getting ready (venue vs. a hotel/etc). The earlier your ceremony, the earlier we need to start hair. A general rule of thumb is your first look may be 2/3 hours before the ceremony, and you need services completed about 30-60 minutes before this depending on other factors. I start working on this schedule with you 3 months before the wedding date.

IS IT BETTER TO GET READY AT THE VENUE VS. THE HOTEL/AIR BNB/HOUSE?

This all depends on one important thing: How early does your venue allow you access to the getting ready suite/room? Some venues do not allow access until late morning, pushing back the available window for everyone to be ready on time. If you are unsure, let me know and I can further advise. Some hotels rooms have limited space, poor lighting, and even their “conference rooms” can be unflattering for any getting ready photographs. This all depends on what is important to you!

DO YOU TRAVEL TO US? ANY LOCATION TOO FAR?

Yes! All wedding day services are performed at the location of your choosing- hotel, venue, air bnb, etc. Weddings 2+ hours away require overnight accommodations plus travel fee, so I am not waking up and driving in the middle of the night. You will want your beauty team well rested :)

Overnight accommodations to be booked by Jennifer, and the price will be added to your contract. I also book destination weddings and no location is too far. Inquire for further details.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE AN EXACT COUNT FOR HAIR SERVICES UPON BOOKING? WHAT IF SOMEONE CHANGES THEIR MIND?

I always recommend booking the number of hair services that you have confirmed with your ladies on the contract. You can always add to this number (up until 30 days before the wedding), but cannot decrease this number. If you think you may potentially have 9 ladies including yourself, a second artist needs to be booked on the initial contract, even if booking the minimum for hair.

I WANT A DOWN-STYLE BUT MY HAIR DOESN’T HOLD A CURL- DO YOUR STYLES LAST?

I absolutely LOVE this question- not only am I confident that all my styles last, but YOUR CURLS WILL HOLD WITH ME AS YOUR STYLIST. Everyone’s needs are different so my approach will be dependent on that, however I do have a few techniques that not only ensure your curls will hold, but your overall style will stay intact. I can touch someone’s hair and know right away if their hair is the type that “doesn’t hold curls well” without them even telling me. The short solution is that the hair needs to be dried out with texture powder, prepped correctly, and products have to be layered- (creams, heat protectant/thermal hold, texture powder, wax spray, pomade). Hair extensions are a bonus and will aid as well. Hairspray is not the final answer- and this is why you want to hire a professional for your wedding day hairstyling!

CAN I BOOK YOU TO STAY FOR HAIR TOUCH-UPS THROUGHOUT FIRST LOOK/CEREMONY OR BEYOND?

Absolutely! I highly recommend this if the majority of your wedding is outdoors and/or during the hot summer months! I will be on standby alongside your photographer following you and your ladies, ready to jump in to adjust/fix anything that may be needed! (hot tools will be waiting in your bridal suite if needed as well!) I especially love this service as I have on-set experience for past shoots (tv, film, print) and may jump in during photos to pull your hair forward or fix that face-framing piece that needs some de-frizzing. It is also helpful if you are unsure of having someone remove your veil without disrupting your hairstyle.

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?

Upon booking I require a non-refundable/ non-transferable retainer to hold your date. The remaining balance (minus your retainer) is due on the day of the wedding.

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY BRIDAL PREVIEW?

Bridal previews should be scheduled after you pick out your dress and have a better idea of your wedding look. It is best to schedule anywhere from 2-6 months before your wedding date so your hair color, length, and the weather is somewhat similar to that of how it will be on your wedding day. I recommend scheduling before a special date/occasion! I normally do not advise scheduling before your engagement shoot or bridal shower (you don’t want your hair to look the same for those events as your wedding), but if you don’t mind we can of course still schedule it for then! Previews are scheduled on weekends only. Appointments are scheduled through my website.

CAN I SCHEDULE MY BRIDAL PREVIEW BEFORE SECURING MY DATE?

Previews are for booked brides only. I receive several inquiries for the same date, therefore cannot guarantee that your date will still be available by the time of your appointment. Bridal previews are meant for you to try out your look and see what works best, not for “testing out” your stylist or artist.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT OUR BRIDAL PREVIEW?

Your bridal preview is a chance for you to better visualize your hair look for your big day. It gives us a chance to see your style ideas come to life, and gives us the ability to tweak and perfect anything we need to for your final wedding day look. It’s a really fun appointment and generally lasts 2-3 hours. It helps me to see your hair in person, and I can then recommend any hair products or regimens specific to your goals and needs.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE BRIDAL PREVIEW?

We will have already chatted about the style you are going for via email/phone but I also advise to check out my IG and put together an album of ideas. Limit the pictures you have saved to no more than 4. Look for styles which have a similar color to your hair, similar thickness and length so you get a realistic idea of how your wedding hair could look. Keep in mind that almost all Pinterest wedding hair pictures have extensions. It’s a great idea to wear white or similar color to that of your dress, similar neckline as well. Bring your jewelry options, hair accessories, and veil. Make sure to wear some makeup too!

SHOULD I GET CLIP-IN EXTENSIONS FOR THE WEDDING DAY?

I highly recommend that most brides use clip in extensions for their wedding day hair. Your hair will truly just be that much better and the style is guaranteed to hold and last no matter what the weather may be. Even just a small seamless addition of hair makes the biggest difference. I offer a wedding day customized clip in extension rental to all of my brides for a rental fee and refundable deposit. This option is available to test out at our trial, and gives you the peace of mind of having the color, thickness, and length be totally customized for you. It also helps if you do not want to invest in purchasing your own extensions.

IS GRATUITY INCLUDED IN YOUR PRICING?

Gratuity is not included, but appreciated if I exceeded your wedding expectations!
